The Science Teachers Association of New York State - Eastern Section presents a special members only professional development event: Rendezvous with a Comet Challenger Simulation at miSci on March 6th, 5 - 8 pm. Teachers will become students and embark on a mission to explore a comet that is approaching Earth’s orbit! Students will complete the assembly of a probe and launch it to rendezvous with the comet while using scientific, decision-making, problem solving, communication, and teamwork skills to grapple with unexpected objects in the solar system.

Based on NASA astronaut training, the Challenger Learning Center of the Capital Region at miSci allows participants to be part of a simulated mission to space in an innovative learning environment. Visitors become part of a crew of engineers and scientists on-board the space-craft. Like NASA astronauts, scientists, and engineers, visitors are assigned essential tasks and conduct critical experiments that they must execute for mission success.

The evening will begin at 5 pm with light appetizers, prior to the start of the simulation at 5:30 pm. A generous benefactor has allowed us to provide this professional development event at the greatly reduced rate of $6 per member. 3 CTLE credits will be provided for your participation.  Space is limited, so sign up today!

miSci is located at: 15 Nott Terrace Heights, Schenectady, NY 12308
